Following the success of our Messiah concert, our next project will be a full performance with orchestra and soloists of one of the most popular works in the classical canon. We will welcome singers from across the Blue Mountains, Sydney and further afield to rehearse and perform the Requiem Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on the weekend of 3/4 August 2019 in Blackheath, at the top of the Blue Mountains.
As before, all singers will gather on Saturday morning for a day of choir rehearsal, led by Rowen Fox. Rowen’s fun workshop style and inquisitive mind is sure to find something new for you in this iconic work even if you have sung many times before. If you are new the work we will provide rehearsal resources so that you can arrive with the notes and music learnt for Rowen to pull the group together. Phoenix Choir will be rehearsing the work so they can lead and bind together the bigger group for what will be a splendid performance.
On performance day we will rehearse with orchestra and soloists on the Sunday morning before the performance in early afternoon leaving plenty of time for those who have to travel. All rehearsals and performance will take place in the Phillips Hall in Blackheath and the cost for all singers will be $110 which includes the full weekend of rehearsals and performance.
We will make further details available over the next few months. Blackheath is a beautiful location to visit mid-winter and experience the real seasons, and there are plenty of options for accommodation, dining and entertainment if you choose to stay over.
Singers who live near Blackheath are welcome to join Phoenix Choir for this concert and rehearse the work with us over 10 weeks leading up to the weekend.
